The heating temperature is 1100-1150℃. The initial forging temperature is 1060℃. The final forging temperature is >900℃.
The alloy content of the steel is medium. The carbides are small and evenly distributed. The forging deformation resistance is small. The forging processability is good. The key is that it must be cooled slowly (charcoal or hot ash) after forging. It is best to hot-load annealing to remove stress. Otherwise, the forgings are prone to longitudinal surface cracks.
Spheroidizing annealing or general annealing process can be used. The machining performance is better than that of general tool steel. The spheroidizing annealing hardness is 220-240HBS. Annealing hardness is about 240HBS.
- Quenching and tempering.
When making pre-hardened steel, the recommended heat treatment process is 860-880 ℃ quenching. The quenching hardness is 62-64HRC. Tempering at 550-620℃ for 2h. Tempering hardness is 40-48HRC. Various conventional processing can be carried out.
Features and Application
8Cr2MnWMoVS die steel has a simple heat treatment process and good hardenability. For example, the diameter of air cooling can reach 100mm. The quenching hardness is high. The toughness and toughness of cutting performance and polishing and grinding performance.
It can be used as pre-hardened steel. It is suitable for making precision molds and printed board punching molds for various plastics, bakelite, rubber, ceramics and other products. The matching accuracy of the mold made of this steel is 1-2 orders of size higher than that of other total tool steels. The surface roughness value is 1-2 levels lower, and the service life is increased by more than 2-10 times.
As a high-hardness, high-strength and toughness steel, it is suitable for making blanking dies. Because of its high quenching and tempering hardness, good strength and toughness, and small heat treatment deformation, it has high molding precision and long service life.
