Description

6061 alloy aluminum coil belongs to 6000 series alloy aluminum coil. 6061 aluminum coil is the most versatile heat-treatable aluminum alloy. Although the strength is not as good as most 2xxx and 7xxx alloys. But 6061 aluminum coil provides a wide range of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. And can be manufactured by many common practices. Under “O” tempering or annealing conditions, 6061 alloy aluminum coil has good formability. Under T4 conditions, very violent molding can be carried out. Under T6 conditions, performance can be obtained through artificial aging.

6061 is a precipitation hardening aluminum alloy. It contains magnesium and silicon as its main alloying elements. Originally called “Alloy 61S”. It has good mechanical properties, weldability. And it is very commonly used for extrusion (second only to 6063).

Heat treatment

Rapid annealing
Heating temperature 350 ~ 410 °C, holding time 30 ~ 120 min depending on material effective thickness. Air or water cooling.

High-temperature annealing
The heating temperature is 350 ~ 500 °C. The holding time is 10 ~ 30min when the thickness of the finished product is ≥6mm. Stops after heat penetration when the thickness of the finished product is less than 6mm. Air Cooling.

Low-temperature annealing
The heating temperature is 150 ~ 250 °C and the holding time is 2 ~ 3h. Air or water cooling.

Homogenization annealing
570 degrees Celsius, seven hours of insulation, Air cooling
